This is a fantastic video explaining how astrophysicists measure different distances in the Universe. The narrating is done by Dr Olivia Johnson, an astrophysicist at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
I only wish they had explained Type Ia supernovae which are the standard candles that were used to measure the accelerated expansion of the Universe in 1998 and got a Nobel prize to Perlmutter, Schmidt and Riess just last year.
